you really don’t know what UST is fighting for, back in 2006, do you?? Might as well shut your mouth up if you’re just basing it from hearsays of naive and incompetent conclusions. UST already prompted for leakage before the test results were announced. And here comes the BON, announcing those test results making it much worse and controversial. then whose to blame?? Yes you blamed it to the institution who sought for truth and integrity. O come on, i guess your better than that. Are you? Or might as well you really don’t value the profession. UP, U of St. Louis and the other great institutions supported the fight so please don’t tell me they didn’t thought of it both intensively and extensively because the 2006 nursing leakage was just a testament of institutions who really cared for the profession and institutions who just thought of how to earn more money from students.

Sa mga bumagsak, do better this time. sa mga new RNs Congratz!!! heads up ako sa inyo.=) God Bless all!=)

July 26th, 2008 at 3:04 pm
congrats to all the new nurses!
UST has made their reputation as being one of the top school in our country,..no question about it. To all UST top notchers, congrats! However, i also have doubts how they dominated the top list. Even in our profession, which we had our exam just this months ago, UST has dominated our list of top examinees. Just imagine, probably, 65%-70% percent of the top list all came from UST…If there had been a leakage, we don’t know about it..this is just an opinion anyway..In the end, we are all equal, topnotcher or just a passer. What matters most is when we are already employed as professionals, we perform our duties/responsibilites right and we become real topnotchers in our job.
To all SLU-Baguio passers, congrats.

sa mga nag-iisip na may leakage ang ust, bitter lang kay0! for your info, ‘yang mga batang yan, 3rd year pa lang sila sa nursing, may review na sila for the boards, just imagine how hard it is to juggle everything, regular lectures, rle, completions sa d.r at o.r., at dagdagan pa ng review…at isa pa, mga reputable professors ang mga nagreview sa kanila, kaya hwag na kayong magtaka kung maraming topnochers from ust, they deserve it… pasalamat na lang kayo kung pumasa kayo, at kung hindi, may susunod pa naman.. congrats sa mga bagong rn’s.. good luck sa mga future careers!

i am from ust and i am from this batch who took the june 08 PNLE.. ok.. just to let everyone know, july pa lang last year, along with our lectures, rle, or/ dr completions, thesis, and etc, we started having our review already. we also didn’t get to have a “sem break” cause we had to review…the whole months of april and may were also spent for review.. it’s true that it was really kinda pressuring for us but it was ok because we knew that it was for our own good. to all those people saying na we cheated, na merong leakage etc just because we have lots of topnotchers, PLEASE LANG.. STOP IT. somehow, it hurts to hear such comments because i know how much we really worked hard for whatever it is na na-achieve namin ngayon. our professors really gave their best in helping us, in guiding us.. not only during our “review” but sa buong stay namin sa coll. they really made an effort to help us learn/ understand whatever there is that we should learn/ understand. our college supported us big time. our college did its best to mold us in becoming competent, compassionate and committed nurses– the way real nurses should be. im NOT saying that we are “the perfect nurses”.. ’cause no one really is perfect. bt what im trying to point out is that, we– the college, the professors, and us, the students–just did our best, our part. also, i just want to emphasize that we stick to the value of honesty, integrity and justice and so cheating for us is a big no no. we believe that nursing is not just a profession.. nursing involves caring for human beings, not objects.. buhay na ng tao ang pinag-uusapan dito kaya hindi ka lang basta pwedeng makipaglokohan o mandaya. and again, to those people who keep on bashing ust because of the number of our topnotchers, do u even know those thomasians na nsa top 10 for u to judge so quickly?? hahaha. the top 1 is my friend.. and WOW, hindi nyo alam kung gano siya kagaling.. im not bragging or whatever, pro u have to meet her first before making harsh comments. she really deserves the place.. as well as the others na nagtop.. oh well, let’s just all be happy for everyone who passed. that would be much better. remove the bitterness peeps! anyway, the top list or school or whatever are not the ones that really matter.. what’s important is that all these nurses who passed will be able to practice the profession accordingly and with a heart.. not to forget, values. =)
congratulations to all who passed!! job well done! =)

ok… congratulations to all those new RNs… BTW am from UP College of Nursing who also took the june 08 exam..
Hehe..
Let us remember that PASSING the board exam is not the essence of our profession… Its just an exam guys… I REPEAT, JUST AN “EXAM”… The true test is when we are already in the field, caring for people… That is where we can apply everything that we have learned… Kung meron ba talaga… And as wat one person posted.. please dont forget the core values of this profession..
HONESTLY…Hehehe…
CONGRATS ulit sa lahat… Especially to my beloved UPCN Batch 2008… Excelsior 2008! Ever upward! =)

I am just so proud that UST has finally got back. I too am an alumni of UST and believe it or not, my batch and i had only 18 days of review for the boards back then but we certainly made it. and for those who believe that UST nurses are otherwise, please take note that this College has been long dominating this arena and badmouthing it would only serve nothing. Hospitals here in the US would hire UST graduates 100%.to liken being a UST grad to cars,
we are still undoubtedly MERCEDES BENZ quality.

Hehehe… Kanya kanyang pagbibitter lang yan, its our year ngayon eh so wala kayong magagawa. The bottomline is, kanya kanyang panahon lang yan. Ngayon kami ang nagtop, ang that proves that we do GET QUALITY NURSING EDUCATION IN OUR SCHOOL. Kaya para sa mga taong hindi pa rin matanggap ang katotohanan, try to stay afloat for 60 years in this profession… Kung tumagal ang college nyo ng 60 years at all the time you get a passing rate of 90 - 100% then may karapatan na kayong magyabang. Kung hindi nyo pa naaachieve yan, PLEASE SHUT YOUR BIG MOUTH!

Congratulations sa mga nakapasa esp kay Zachelle, ang aking pamangkin and congrats din sa mga hindi nakapasa dahil may guts sila na kumuha ng exam and besides, sila graduate na ng College; don’t feel down; there’s always a second chance. Nursing is hard; laging puyat at laging studies. Kudos sa lahat ng exam takers, pumasa at hindi; I RESPECT YOU ALL. Just forget the past. Everyone should be proud of everyone dahil nag sakripisyo lahat ng parents and students para lang maka-graduate tapos kung ano-ano pa ang bad comments na binibigay n’yo. You mean to say, pag na-ospital ka sasabihin mo ba na “Ay, ayaw ko sa kanya kasi graduate siya sa UST, or FEU or Fatima or any school.”
If you are proud of your profession, they, i’m very sure, are proud of their profession too. You should be praying for them, so they can find jobs para naman makatulong sila sa parents and sa Pinas.
I’m saying this kasi I’m also an RN and RNs are one of the least appreciated professionals. I’m proud to be one and I’ve been an RN for 32 years; at least alam ko na may mga papalit na sa akin pag nag-retire na ako at may mag-aalaga sa akin pag ako naospital.
Again, Congratulations,Zachelle.

Well, i am proud to be a THOMASIAN REGISTERED NURSE!
Congratulations to my batchmates!
For sure d kayo nakapasa sa ustet, right? hehe.
If you guys only knew how we really prepared for the exam.
And sa mga prof namin, they’re the best here in the Phil.
No wonder kami na mga product nila eh naging excellent din in some ways. You guys don’t have the right na magsabi na may leakage kami. Well, alam ko dahil sa sobrang insecure nyo nacocoment nyo yan. Tama, face the reality. Iba talaga pag THOMASIAN NURSE ka.

there’s no need to be so rude guys.. there’s always a time for every school to be at the top.. and there is no doubt that UST got the most number of passers due to this exam.. i am not from UST.. i’m from AMA..
u know what?..
i think it’ll be best if we just be happy and feel greatful for those who passed and wish goodluck for those who failed (there’s always a second chance, so don’t feel pity ok?)..
i believed that will do..
congratulations to all the school who had their students passed the exam..
godbless..

congratulations to all those who passed the exam God has plans already for you..
hindi porket you get high grades and u pass the board ehh ur the best na..
inalog lang tau ni God to be a better person…
to be able to see better..

UP Nurse..
August 6th, 2008 at 9:34 am
Wala kaming in house.. At 100% passing ever since at ngaun, 9 out of 73 or more than 12% ng batch namin asa top 10..
Pero ang mga experiencesnamin honed us to be great nurses, not just in theory but in real life practice.. Di lang pang board exam.. Haha..
At tanungin nio muna mga sarili nio.. I bet most naman ng students sa pilipinas nung mag graduate ng high school ay UP ang aim na pasukan.. but unfortunately nd pumasa ng UPCAT.. hehe.. dami ko kilala na mga tga UST nursing na nd pumasa ng UP.. Hahaha.. Kahit ikaila nio pa alam nio sa mga sarili nio na nagtangka kayo pumasok UP p but u didnt make it..
And our school doesn’t prepare us for the board exams only.. Cause for us its just a simple test. A rite of passage.. A formality.. The mere fact that you graduated from UP Nursing is a testament of your greatness as nurse and a person..
Anyways, I will no longer elaborate on our duties and sa lahat ng katoxican namin dahil for sure kahit anong pagdedescribe ko at ano pa mang word na gamitin ko, nobody will understand it fully unless maransan mo din xa.. hehe..
UP Nurse..
August 6th, 2008 at 9:38 am
At pahabol lang, dd u know na sa batch namin ang nagapply sa UP NUrsing ay 11,000 at kaming 70 plus lang ang tnanggap. hehe.. at ung 11,000 na un ay un lang nagindicate ng UP NUrsing as first choice, d pa dun kasama ung nagindicate ng Nursing as second choice..
R U ONE OF THE 10,930 who didnt make it? Haha.. =P

You know what guys, i think you should just be happy for all the board passers. Just because maraming topnoptchers from ust eh nandaya na sila. You should’ve exerted more effort para kayo sana ang nasa position nila. Envy won’t get you to the top or to where the Thomasians are. Alam naman siguro natin na even before pa center of excellence na ng UST and field of science (that’s if you’re even aware), and i bet most of you even hoped to get in the university. Get over with pwede?! Pati yung kasing babaw ng maarte nurses ng ust? I bet you’re not even from UST so how are you to know? In your dreams my dear. ASA.
GO USTE! Proud to be a Thomasian.

Siguro nga well-trained kayo sa acads and other stuffs. Kelangan pa ba ipagyabang yun? You always claim you know better, then act like one. SHOW IT. What have you got to prove pa ba? I’m having this impression tuloy.

Hi! I’m from UP as well & i salute thomasians for getting majority of the topnotchers in this board exam!
Truly, THE board exam is not a SOLE measure of one’s expertise or excellence in a certain field, but needless to say, IT is still a metric.. and they (from UST) made it on the top. WE SHOULD RECOGNIZE THAT.
If we’re really INTELLIGENT, we should also be WISE enough not to show this kind of attitude to our fellow nurses. After all, this mentality is what’s killing us all here and abroad.
There’s nothing to argue about UP being the country’s BEST university & UP is respected for that and so are we, it’s students, alumni, & faculty. I think it is fair enough to give credit to those who deserve the same respect as well? Right?
KUDOS TO ALL PASSERS OF THE 2008 NLE!!!
I’M PROUD OF UP!

…and that my friends is a very good example of Filipino Crab Mentality…
funny though, most of those engaging in this useless argument are those who are just mere spectators… mainit ang miron, ika nga…
darating ang time nyo, magbunganga kayo pag may naitulong na kayo… may nagawa ka ba para mai-angat ang sarili mo? much less ang matulungan ang bayan mo… oh, wala nga pala dun ang focus natin ano? it’s about who is the best school! and for what, may i ask?
i think may naaninag akong konting liwanag dun sa ibang comments… yeah, the board is just an exam and it may never prove how good a nurse will perform later in a hospital setting… pwedeng matalino sa theoretical pero walang tamang attitude sa work and meron namang mahusay sa actual pero hirap na maisalin sa papel… but the real point here is, its a requirement and everyone has to abide with that… kung mataas ang nakuha ng isang individual (syempre kadikit ng pangalan yung school) eh dapat lang na i-recognize sila FOR THAT ACHIEVEMENT… pinaghirapan yun eh… so yun lang, kids… stop bickering and do something FOR YOURSELF para naman pag nagbubunganga kayo dito eh masabi nyong ‘oi, top-10 AKO… galing ko no?’

You guys are pitiful. Claiming to be the best nursing school in the Philippines (ooh…!) There are hundreds of nursing schools in the US better than your UP or UST. Even our community college ADN programs will kick your butt. I’m from NYU’s bsn program by the way which is New York University for you.

kami po ay nag aaral pa lamang….. bat kayo ganyan…. according to our teachers….. ang batang mababait ay pinagpala sa langit…. Di naman mahalaga kung saan ka nagaaral ang mahalaga ay kng paano mo gagampanan ang iyong tungkulin bilang isang nars….OO ngat top 1 ka…. e ano ngaun…. tsamba lng siguro yon…..hehehe… ika nga nila…. what matters most is you have a golden heart to serve the community with a great responsiblity to our society…… “”"” aanhin mo pa ang libro kng ikaw ay bobo…..”"”" yan ang aming motto sa iloilo….. Many forget of the dimension of time. Some schools made it to the top today or this year. But, could it be forever? Some good nurses abroad are not from these celebrated nursing schools. They also helped our Philippine economy afloat amidst global economic crisis. So let us not bicker on this matter. After all, whether you are from the province or from Metro Manila, we are stil Filipinos.

As far as i know, UST had been very consistent in the medical field. Since UP, ADMU and DLSU are the top 3 Univ’s in the Phuilippines excelling in the business field. So it’s fair lang na ang USt ang d best school pagdating sa medical field. At wla kayo sa posisyon na mag akusa na they are cheating. Who knows, baka nga ikaw ang cheater. What you say is wat u are. Napatunayan nmn nila ang sarili nla since they survived almost 400 years of academic excellence. Congrats USt and hoping to pursue my college years in UST.
So it’s just balance.

The most important thing is you have knowledge and skills on what to do and how to do things.
^_^ God Bless…

Viva SLU, even though no topnotcher but the percentage of passing is almost 100%, and as always listed in the top nursing schools is not bad after all. What matter is, can they pass the NCLEX the first time they will take it?
Congratulation to all passers excluded are the cheaters and to those who benefited from leakage.

My wife is a nurse and she took up her BSN degree somewhere in the province a not so well known school but I’m proud of her because she passed the board exam with out a leakage, passed the CGFNS, and NCLEX in SAIPAN. She did it because of her determination and ability to adopt to situations presented in the questions as well as CS.

Yesterday ends the record breaking Nursing Exam with almost 90,000 examinees. Today would be the start of a two month waiting period that extends well beyond next year.
The November 2008 Nursing Board Examination is by far the exam with the highest number of takers in history of the Professional Regulatory Commission ( PRC ). [...]

February 12th, 2009 at 12:44 am
to dis is it:
actually, the NTG patch should only be applied 12-14 hours a day with 10-12 resting hours in order to avoid tolerance to nitroglycerin.
If what you had encountered was a student nurse, then she must’ve just corrected the whole therapy granted she is on a 6-hour shift based from the time it was endorsed to her.
However, if she was a staff nurse, yes its wrong and must be corrected. the good thing is, NTG is an OTC drug which can take its negative effects if what you just claimed is done regularly or habitually. You can also claim that she just went 4 hours longer but still its not an excuse. Either she just forgot to removed it or either way just irresponsible.
- in reality, open your eyes to the philippine health care setting. Kasi kahit taga-UP o UST o kahit anu pang magagaling na institutions ka, there are always flaws and rooms that we must need to improve.

congrats to new RNs.. and welcome to real life!
Daming bitter sa UST naman. We are all RNs and we should act appropriately. I’ve read somewhere on this long discussion about UST reviewing for board exam ng june? well, during my year and years before me, reviews were only started mid-march of the same year. Well, even then there were lots of speculations re:UST having leakage and stuff. and well, who will believe me if i say we didn’t have any leakage and passing the NLE with flying colors came from hard work both from our profs and our, student’s, parts. well.. you have to be a thomasian to believe it. Anyway, i respect all the other univ and colleges of nursing. Mabuhay ang mga Pinoy Nurses!

March 13th, 2009 at 9:35 pm
Oh well… dami away dito.hehehe… you know what guyz… doesn’t matter from what school kayo… actually doesn’t even matter kung top kayo or board passer kayo… kapag nasa hospital na… when you are really practicing “real” nursing dun nyo malalaman kung magaling nga kayong nurses or not.:) you’ll know that from your patient’s feedback:) believe me…hehe… kanina lang… when my patient told me this line “Nurse, ang ganda ganda mo” hehe… sabi ko pa nga “baka naman po malabo na mata nyo” hehehe… tapos sabi ng anak ng patient ko “ang bait pa hanu” dun ko narealized how nice it is to be a nurse… sarap sa tenga guyz… narealized ko na kaya nila sinabi yun maybe b’coz of the way I cared for my patient…
so guyz… stop arguing about your schools… I’m from an unpopular school in Cabanatuan City and I don’t think school is the basis neither the board exam itself of how good you are as a nurse…

According to Edgar Cayce’ prediction “sound is the medicine for the 21st century”. His prediction is proven correct; one of the amazing findings of the 21st century is classical music.
There are increasing numbers of experts that testify the surprising benefits of classical music:
1. February 2005 (Journal of Advance nursing):
Found that older adults with sleep problems who listened for about 45 minutes to soft music at bedtime reported 35% improvement in their sleep.
Classical music is proven therapeutic to a lot of illness such as old age related conditions (like alzheimer), Brain injury, acute pain including mothers in labor, and physical disabilities. That is why in US classical music is played in psychiatric hospitals and rehabilitation centers.
One hospital study found that heart patients received the same anxiety benefits from listening to 30 minutes classical music as they did from taking drug valium.
2. 2004 (London, England)
British Transport police play classical music to underground stations in some of the areas most dangerous neighborhoods. After 6 months of playing the music,
Robberies were cut by 33% , Staff assaults decreased by 25%, vandalism went down to 37%
3. 2001 (West Palm beach, Florida)
“It’s not practical to have a cop sitting there all day long”
“So what do we you do?”
“How do you change the scope of the neighborhood ”
Cops installed a CD player and speakers on an abandoned building in a crime- ridden neighborhood. After playing the music for 24 hours a day for about 3 months, Shootings, theft, loiterers and drug deal decreased.
4. Some supermarkets and stores in the US piped in music in their place. According to them classical music tend to put shoppers at ease, relax and look at the items for sale.
5. In the office classical music is used to reduce mood disturbance and job burnout.
If just playing classical music can resolve issues in our country why not use them. First world countries are already using Classical music to help resolve their country’s issues why not use the same formula to help our country?

Based on research about percentages of june takers vs november takers… it has significant difference… which is said june is more difficult than november exams… first, nursing graduates of march or mostly late april has less time(1 1/2 month only) to review for june board than november examinees (6-7 months)… second, most top schools with 97-100% such as UP and UST graduates take their exams in june board (which the exams tend to be harder)… third, the BON has more time to prepare for june board exams after nov board (dec-may or 6 months) compare to (july-oct or 4 months) for nov board…
by the way, being a topnotcher is not enough gauge to tell you how will you be a good nurse in the future…board exam is purely Knowledge based…it is good that you have knowledge or theories in mind but yet there are still 2 measurements you must possess which are Skills and Attitude…remember these three (KSA)… it is no use if you are a topnotcher but have no skills and have no attitude??? it is likewise also that it is no use if you have skills but lack of knowledge…it is also difficult to be a good nurse even if you possess the Skills and Knowledge but have no Attitude..
here in the united states, it is a matter of Passed or Failed only… no topnotchers because they do not believe that merely one examination will determine your success as a nurse… it is shameful if topnotchers are those shaking while inserting IV (no skills) or arrogant (bad attitude)… So nurses, aim to excel in these three categories (Knowledge, Skill and Attitude)

GuyS RN na kayo Isip Bata pa rin, nag aaway, nakikipag compitensya pa rin, kung sino magaling na school, eh its over na , grad na kayo, Its time think about the future, san kayo hahanap ng trabaho? To be honest im a USRN, dto na me sa states making 40$/hr, may two houses na ko dto sa states as a part of investments, And you know what? graduate lang ako sa province, i mean hindi kabigatan ang name ng school namin, and my grades noon average lang , i pass the NLE 78% lang ako, ang baba di ba? But now dto na ko sa states , i learn a lot sa work ko, Tsaka dto sa states pag tinanong ka ng mga kano san ka nag graduate ,u dont say graduate ka ng UST, u just say u graduate sa Philippines, hindi na nila alam kung ano mabibigat na school or just they dont care, pero dito sa pinas kinikilala o mabigat tingin nila sa iyo pag grad ka sa kilalang school, My point is lahat tayo gusto lumabas ng bansa to work. Kaya huwag na tayo makipag compitensya

As what my instructor told us, it’s not always the name of the school that matters, but it’s up to the student on how he will give name of his school.Am I right? Passing the board exam is not a sole measure of being a qualified nurse but its on the other way around. In other words, as long as you do your duties excellently, then you can be a great nurse someday…
I congratulate all STI’ers for being the top as well as to those who made passed the board exams.
